The Clothing Edition of Holiday Shopping in Maynard (part 5)

Raspberry Beret

So far I've done posts on time-sensitive shopping, what to get for the kids in your life, and buying things for people without outdoor interests or fitness. Now it's all about getting dressed!

The clothing spectrum from frilly “feminine,” to gender neutral, and mostly “masculine” is available right here in Maynard. We've got some lovely and cool shops where you can get clothing, and we're so lucky to have them here.

I wish we had a greater representation in sizes. Maybe one of you reading this would like to open that shop. And given how many families we have here, it’s a pity that we don’t have a kids consignment shop.

“Feminine” clothing:

Raspberry Beret: Always keeping up with the latest fashion trends, they can help you put together some amazing and original looks. Want to dip a toe into another decade? This is also your place. Their shoe and boot selection is pretty impressive, with dressy high heels and classy boots. Rachel is usually carrying name brand or designer labels, so expect quality items. Here they have sequins and frills and beautiful basics, but they also have some fairly gender neutral clothing, too. Personally I like to grab and espresso from across the street and check out the outfits they've put together for the window. An added bonus of buying from Raspberry Beret is that, by buying second-hand apparel, you’re giving great clothes a second life, and maybe someone on your Holiday shopping list cares about that, too.

The Outdoor Store

The Outdoor Store: That main entrance is going to trick you into thinking that it’s all masculine shirts and sporting goods, but you’d be so wrong to believe that. Find a path through all the racks and make your way to the feminine adult and kids section on the right. You can find fitness wear, delicious sweaters, perfect jeans, socks, skirts and cozy leggings. I saw some very classy-looking leather handbags. There are shoes, sneakers, and slippers in the shoe section, just wind your way to the back of the entrance-side of the store.

Kind Goods

Kind Goods: This shop seems to specialize in creating a cozy home, and the clothes are the embodiment of what the store looks like–comfortable and sophisticated. They don’t have many clothing items, but  when last I went in, they had some lovely shirts, wraps, scarves, and some European-looking shoes that look like they are a vacation waiting to happen. She's got a really great shirt with the words "Love Thy Neighbor" in big letters on the chest. Wouldn't that be a great and funny gift for someone living adjacent to you?

The Paper Store

The Paper Store: Their new location at Maynard Crossing/Digital Way really allowed them to triple the size of their store, and one of the things they decided to add to their list of merchandise is women’s clothes. There are lots of casual and cozy things there.

I found some beautiful hand-painted silk scarves and colorful, knitted neck warmers and mittens at 6 Bridges Gallery. They're running their Winter Market, so the space is full of locally-made arts and fine crafts.

“Masculine” clothing

The Outdoor Store

If you’re looking for jeans, t-shirts, and flannel, look no further than the first section of the Outdoor Store! Here you have an entire wall of jeans, lots of button-up plain and plaid shirts, khakis, socks, shoes, coats, jackets, hats, gloves, and even boxers, pajamas, and long underwear. Raspberry Beret is also carrying men's clothes. Items there are often changing, so it's worth checking them out. You might something that's hard to find.

If you’re looking for Holiday-themed wearables, try

The Paper Store and Raspberry Beret

If you need a feminine dress up for a holiday party, Raspberry Beret is your best bet. You can also browse the vast assortment of clothing that local resident Lauren Lamenza Naylor has available on her Poshmark site. She's willing to work outside the app and even let people go and try things on in her home, all masked, of course. Her Poshmark "store" name is dragonfly_flash.

You can get hats, gloves, and scarves at the Outdoor Store, Raspberry Beret, 6 Bridges Gallery. Kind Goods also carries scarves.

There are fun and snarky socks at the Paper Store
