Many Thanks to the Guerilla Citizen

The community of Maynard owes a great deal of thanks to the guerilla citizen who took it upon themselves to take paint to the plywood that has been an eyesore in Maynard for nearly ten years. Person-Who-Did-This, if you're out there and listening, you are a town hero, and we truly appreciate what you have done.

Sorry my picture was poor quality. I was stopped at the light.

  1. Does anyone know the story behind this business that has been closed for so many years?

    1. I met the man who owns it several years ago when I was doing a Paradise City Arts show. He saw that I was from Maynard and told me that he also had property in Maynard. I scolded him and told him that he needed to fix up his building. I think I got an "I know, I know." He told me that he just uses it for storage. He lives in Sudbury. Lot of good my saying anything did.

  2. In my opinion this building should be top of the list to be turned over! It's ridiculous that at basically at the entrance to our downtown this eyesore is what greets you. That whole corner is in need of a facelift to help invite more people into our downtown.

  3. Thank you, Denise, for posting about this neglected property. Perhaps it was the property owner himself who believes that painting the plywood in the window, instead of replacing the glass, is an acceptable solution (in Maynard). If anyone feels this is not acceptable, I would encourage you to contact the Town Administrator, Kevin Sweet, AND the members of the Board of Selectmen. Their email addresses can be found on the town website: http://www.townofmaynard-ma.gov/
